Summertime

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jen Grimes @ 1:56 pm

6 whole months have passed and there sure has been so much going on– that’s why it’s been so hard to keep up with the Blog!  Here’s a recap… Month by Month…

December– Christmastime was amazing this year.  The joy and wonder of the season paired with being able to share it with our two precious girls truly makes it the most wonderful time of the year.  Unfortunately, poor Carly was hit with the stomache bug on Christmas EVE (at the Riley’s annual Holiday Mass), so we missed out on some of the festivities.  She made it through Christmas day with no sickness, but then it hit her again the day after (in our CAR!!!)== YUCK!  That being said, we did have an amazing Christmas.  We got to spend the day celebrating with our wonderful family- the girls were spoiled with American Girl Goodies (Carly got her doll, “Riley’, from Mema while Avery got the “Julie” bed from Santa), Games, Strawberry Shortcake Dolls, Books and all kinds of ”girly” stuff!  These angels certainly were spoiled!

We rang in the New Year with some of our besties– 2012 was sure to be a fantabulous year!!!

January kept us busy with the girls in School, Dance class and lots of Playdates.  Mommy celebrated her 32nd Birthday and  before we knew it, February was here!

February marked a very special Occassion– Carly turned 4!!!!!  Our Sweet Girl celebrated with all of her friends at Jump Zone in Columbia.  The kids ran, played and bounced their little hearts out.  Of course she was spoiled with all of our friends and family coming to celebrate and shower her with gifts.  Carly also got to spend a very special day with just her and Mommy (and it just happened to be Valentines Day!)  While Avery partied with her besties from preschool, Carly and Mommy took a trip to the American Girl Doll Store in Tysons, VA.  We had lunch and did some shopping so that Carly could pick out a few special things for her big day!  This was followed by another surprise… Mema and G-Dad even took the girls to Disney on Ice for some extra special playtime!

Later in the February, we celebrated Mema’s 60th Birthday with a suprise party at Facci Restaurant in Maple Lawn.  It was fabulous getting to celebrate such a special occassion with all of the Grimes Family!

Before we knew it, March was here… In March there were A LOT of parties… it seems like most of our friends have birthday’s in March and we of course had to celebrate their special days with them!  Other than that, life was as usual with school, dance, and playtime with our nearest and dearest friends!

April was fun- it started off with Mommy being on Spring Break from School, so that meant lots of playtime with the girls!  On the 13th, Glen Mar had their annual Spring Field Trip to the Baltimore Zoo.  With Picnic lunches, Dippin Dots, and seeing ALL of the animals, fun was had by all!  and it was April, so it rained…. But, as the saying goes, April showers bring….

May flowers!!!  May was busy with school and dance!  Dance pictures and Dance rehearsals all leading up to the Dance recital the first weekend in June!

and the girls were BEAUTIFUL!!!!  Beautiful little Ballerinas!!!  They were so freaking adorable in their dances, while Avery got her “sparkle” on, Carly showed us its truly ”a Wonderful World!”  Mema, G-Dad and DD came out to cheer on our beauties and it sure was a fabulous family day!   The following weekend was Avery’s Preschool Graduation- and while she was ecstatic, Mommy was a basket case!  The ceremony was nice and it was so much fun celebrating all that these “Butterflies” have accomplished over the last year.  We sure will miss all of the friends that Avery made in Preschool- they really are the BEST of the BEST!

With all of the excitement, we needed a weekend away… So, we took a trip up to Lake Wallenpaupack with the McKenzies.  The girls LOVED the Lake and had so much fun!! They were fish in the water – even jumping off of the front of the boat into the water with  NO FEAR!  Little Daredevils would be an understatement…

That brings us into July…. We just got back from Vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC and it was surely a week to remember!  Great times were had by all and so many Wonderful Memories were made… More to come in the next update…

Be sure to check out all of the Pics that have been uploaded to really see what we have been up to… Enjoy!!!

Happy Holidays

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jen Grimes @ 11:58 am

Happy Holidays from our family to yours…. we have been incredibly busy since the last update. Thanksgiving was a wonderful holiday and we were so lucky to have our family join us at our home this year for Thanksgiving dinner. Yummy Turkey, Mashed Potatoes and all of the fixins were enjoyed by all and it was so nice to be able to relax and spend quality time with our family.

Then, before we knew it, we were in full swing of the Christmas season. As the lights, sounds and sights of the holiday season filled the air, we celebrated this most wonderful time of the year in a number of ways. The girls had a holiday program at school where they performed holiday songs and they were so stinking cute… just absolutely adorable!

There were gingerbread house parties, cookie decorating parties and even a few trips through the Symphony of Lights at Merriweather Post Pavilion to see the extravagant decorations. Santa visited the neighborhood with Mrs. Claus on the Firetruck and brought candy canes to all of the friends in the neighborhood

and then made an extra special visit to our home the week before to bring the girls a pre-Christmas treat (Lite Sprites).

On Christmas Eve, we went to The Riley’s for the Annual Christmas Eve mass only to have it cut short because of a sick little munchkin. Poor Carly got sick and that meant that she and mommy needed to come home and snuggle on the couch until she felt better. Daddy and Avery were able to stay and enjoy the party and said that fun times were had by all.

On Christmas morning, Santa certainly did deliver!!! The girls were spoiled in so many ways and had so much fun opening all of the goodies! Mommy and Daddy were spoiled being able to share this special day with our two most beautiful girls. It sounds so cliche, but watching the girls faces light up as they enjoy all that this season has to offer truly is magical. It really is the one thing that I truly look forward to each year.

Now that Christmas is over, we are looking forward to ringing in the New Year. 2012 is just around the corner and we are looking forward to sharing this special day with friends. We are having a NYE party here at Casa de Grimes and can’t wait to celebrate with our nearest and dearest friends. Happy Holidays everyone and enjoy all of the new pix that we added!!!

Since September….

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jen Grimes @ 9:57 pm

It’s been WAY TOO LONG!  So much going on, so here it is in a nutshell…

We left off with Avery’s first day of school… So, we will move on to Carly’s 1st day of school– which was a HUGE success… She LOVES LOVES LOVES her teachers- Mrs. Kimberly and Mrs. Maria are absolutely wonderful and she has been learning so many things this year… It’s amazing how much she has grown in just two months at school… (Did I mention that she loves it even more because her BFF Masey Moo is in her class too!– what can be better than that?!?!?)

September was FULL of lots of BIG events… We celebrated lots of birthdays, but most importantly we celebrated AVERY’S 5th Birthday on the 21st!  It was a week long celebration, or so it seemed.  She celebrated with all of her friends at school and then over the weekend with a party at All Pro Gymnastics.  Smiles and laughter filled the gym and fun was had by all… She got lots and lots of goodies and we were so happy to have so many friends come out to share in her most special day.

The weekend before her birthday, Mema planned a VERY special day for her and took her to the American Girl Doll Store for her to pick out her very own American Girl Doll.  Avery chose her favorite doll, Julie, and ever since then, Julie has not left her side.  We enjoyed a special birthday lunch at AG complete with the entire restaurant singing as the servers were bringing out a BEAUTIFUL birthday cake! I’m pretty sure it was a huge hit with the birthday girl!

On her actual BD, which was the 21st, we celebrated with family and friends – and a JUSTIN BIEBER BD cake!  Avery was in heaven– because Justin Bieber is the center of her universe… Let’s just say, she had a fantabulous birthday and was spoiled, spoiled, spoiled.

Avery’s BD week was followed by celebrations for Daddy’s BD (#34) and Mommy and Daddy’s Anniversary (#7) and ended with a weekend getaway with the Bartlings and McKenzies to Rehobeth Beach, DE.

That brings us into October… October is another crazy busy month!  We have been busy all week, every week with school and playdates with our friends, dance classes for both girls, and this week we even had the first field trip of the year to Clarks Elioaks Farm.  With hayrides and pumpkin picking, the kiddos surely had tons of fun!  This past weekend we also went to Larriland Farms to have a little fall fun.  With a haymaze, tractor ride, Popcorn eating, and more pumpkin picking, we enjoyed this yearly tradition of “the weekend before halloween” with the Felice family!

As we near the end of this week, we are gearing up for next week’s halloween festivities.  This weekend we will be celebrating the holiday with a Halloween Party at the Laanisto’s and then it’s time for Trick or Treat!  Avery will be dressing up as “Blueberry Muffin” from Strawberry Shortcake, and Carly is going to be a “SCARY” (but absolutely adorable) WITCH!  The girls are super excited for Halloween this year — especially since we kicked off the “neighborhood BOO”!  Be sure to check back for Halloween Pix of our little beauties… until then, ENJOY all of the pix that were just added… theres a BUNCH!

The girls just finished up a week at Princess Dance Camp and to say they had fun would be an understatement! They had a BLAST!!!! They got a chance to do different ballet and tap dances to music from Rapunzel, Cinderella, Ariel and Belle and today they even put on a recital for all of their families to enjoy! It was soooo stinking cute! Videos have been uploaded to YouTube so be sure to check them out! Carly really was the star of the show!

YES– It’s July!!!

We have been Busy, Busy, BUSY!!! Dance Recitals, Field Trips with Friends, Neighborhood Block Parties, Birthday Parties, Park Playtime, School, Camps, Swimming Pool Playtime, and LOTS of trips for Ice Cream and Snowballs… That’s what we have been up to! I really haven’t updated the blog with all that has been going on, but I have been adding pix to our 2011 folder for all to see what’s been happening! Be sure to check them out when you get a chance and see how our sweet girls have grown. Before we know it, Avery will be turning 5 and Carly is gonna be 3 1/2! They are both growing up so quickly and becoming quite the little “big” girls… Divas I should say really because they both act like little teenagers with the way that they talk and act, and sometimes want to dress! Avery has hit a milestone just recently by learning to ride her big girl bike without training wheels (which is an amazing feat at just 4 years old!) and Carly has mastered dancing and shaking her booty to every song that comes on the radio. They both have become obsessed with Justin Beiber and know ALL of the words to his song and I am pretty sure that we have watched the Justin Bieber move about 100 times by now!!!
We are enjoying all of our summer activities (camps, playdates, pool outings, and of course CINDY’S SNOWBALLS!!!)… tomorrow is the 4th of July and we are ALL looking forward to the tradition of fireworks and hanging out with friends to celebrate!
Up next… trips to the beach, Vacation Bible School and Princess Dance Camp!

Holy Cow– Guess who’s 3 Now?!?!?!?!

Happy Birthday to CARLY ANNE!!!!  Our sweet, fun and crazy little girl is now 3 years old — I have NO IDEA where the last 3 years have gone.  Our little baby girl is not so little anymore and she has truly become an amazing little person.    The birthday festivities began with a special night out for Carly with just Mema and G-Daddy!  On Thursday evening, they took her to the mall for dinner, build-a-bear, Mickey Store and Carousel.  She sure had a blast and couldn’t stop talking about how she got to ride the horsies two times in a row!  (better you than me Mema!  :-)

While Carly had a special night with her grandparents, Avery had a special night with Mommy- we went to see the Disney Princesses on Ice show with her friend Bianca and Bianca’s mommy, Mrs. Letty.  (We had a FABULOUS TIME and the girls totally LOVED the show!!!  It was all Avery could talk about for days!)

So, Back to the Birthday Festivities-on her actual birthday which was Saturday, we started our  day by doing what you love to do on your birthday– OPEN PRESENTS!  Carly got lots of goodies from everyone and her favorite gift was her big girl bike– all she wanted to do was go outside (in the COLD) and ride it!– needless to say, we decided to find something fun INDOORS for our day of fun!

So, once she opened up her gifts from Mommy and Daddy, we began family fun day with a trip to the MD Science Center.  There were so many interesting things to see and so many awesome things to do– the time just flew by while we were there.  The girls enjoyed seeing the Dinosaurs and playing in the kid area best of all– and they said they couldn’t wait to go back!

Later that evening, we went to Friendly’s for dinner — Carly’s pick.  Mema, G-Daddy, DD and Penny joined us for some delicious and fattening food and best of all – ICE CREAM!  The whole restaurant even sang to our sweet girl and she was truly LOVING LIFE!  She’s such an attention getter!  After that, we had a Play Doh Party, thanks to that wonderful gift from DD and Penny!

On Sunday, we celebrated with our friends at Pump It Up!  … and we sure did PUMP IT UP!  The kids bounced for over an hour and then had lots of pizza, cake and goodies.  Everyone sang (again) to Carly and she lit up like the sun.  I can honestly say that she truly enjoyed every second of her birthday weekend.  We thank everyone that came out to share in her special day and celebrate with us!  It means so very much to all of us to have such wonderful friends and family!!!!!

Now that the birthday celebrations have ended, we get to look forward to our next holiday which is tomorrow– Valentine’s Day.  The girls are looking foward to their Valentine’s Parties at school tomorrow and are excited to give the special valentines they made to all of their friends at school!  Mommy and Daddy even get to join in on the fun!  I will be sure to take some pictures for all to enjoy… Until then, there are lots of Birthday pictures up from this past weekend. Enjoy!!!

Welcome 2011!!!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jen Grimes @ 5:59 pm

The New Year is here and we sure are moving and shaking and keeping busy.  December was VERY VERY busy~  Christmas Eve with the Riley’s; Christmas Morning at home– Santa sure did spoil these sweet girls; Christmas dinner at Mema and G-Dad’s and the day after we celebrated with DD and Penny!  Lots of food, lots of fun and many, many memories were made.

Christmas this year was amazing!!!  The girls were up bright and early (Avery was bright-eyed and busy tailed at 4AM!!!)…. and we sure did celebrate!  Santa brought tons of goodies for our girls- Leapster Explorer with games, puzzles, movies, clothes, baby dolls, books, make-up, crafts, coloring books, soccer balls, giant pillow pets, and silly putty.  In addition to all of the Santa gifts, the girls got more stuff from DD and Penny, Mema and G-Daddy, Uncle Matt and Nicki, Aunt Cristy and GJ, Aunt Erin and Aunt Terri and Uncle Mike and Aunt Jenna…. Goodies like Movies, gumball machines, Spinning bikes, Kinect, MP3 player with microphone, nailpolish and lip gloss, clothes, books, and my oh my so many other things I can hardly keep track… Can we say SPOILED?!?!?!?!  At the end of the day, Avery’s favorite thing was the silly putty ($1) and Carly’s favorite thing were the twin baby dolls!

At the end of the day, the girl were soooooo exhausted… Carly literally fell asleep standing straight up (LOL)… take a look:

Once the hustle settled from the holiday, we achieved another big milestone with our little Carly– she is officially POTTY TRAINED!  While she has been ready for what seems like FOREVER, I have been putting it off just as long.  So, we up and just did it and she was amazing!  She had just one accident on the first day, and since then, it has been smooth sailing!  We are so very proud of her and can’t believe that she is growing up so fast and becoming such a big girl.

We celebrated New Years with the Fitzpatricks and came to realize that we are just getting OLD!!!  LOL– kiddos had fun running around and acting crazy– and with all the kids running around, that was enough to keep the parents awake and the drinks flowing.  We had a great time, but shortly after the ball dropped, all of the mommies and daddies were fast asleep!  It was just a few years ago that we partied to the break of dawn– now, Not so much!  We did have a blast hanging out and ringing in the new year with some of our very best friends and our precious girls.

THe first weekend in January, we went to the Gaylord Hotel for Daddy’s holiday party for his new job with Microsoft.  They had an awesome banquet and we got to see the ICE show…. and all I can say is that it was truly amazing!  The girls were mesmerized and they even got a chance to meet the GRINCH!  Lots of fun and we can’t wait to see it again next year!

Now that we are mid-January, we are back into our daily routine.  Girls are at school 3 days a week, Avery has dance on Thursday’s and has started Soccer on Sunday’s.  Carly is starting up with her dance class again very soon and that will take over our Saturday schedule.  We are keeping busy and moving all of the time, which keeps us happy and the days just seem to fly by.  Next week we are celebrating my Birthday (#31) and then just 2 weeks later, our sweet Carly Anne will be turning 3 years old!  We have planned a Pump It Up birthday party for our girl and we just cannot wait!

Stay tuned for more updates and enjoy the pix that have been uploaded to our December/ January and Christmas 2010 folders….

Brrrrr…. It’s December!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jen Grimes @ 7:29 pm

December is here and so is the winter weather!  All I can say is BRRRRRR…… it’s cold out there!  And it’s also beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  We are in the throws of the holiday season and with Christmas approaching, we are loving enjoying the sights and sounds of the season!

The girls are so excited and are truly embracing the traditions and the joys of this special time of year.  Our tree is decorated, as is the inside and outside of the house, and the girls seriously CAN”T WAIT til the 25th.  We have a Christmas countdown going and each and everyday Avery moves the “little elf” from santas pocket one day closer.  We also have a new addition this year… His name is …. SNOWFLAKE!  He is our Christmas elf!

He came when our tree was decorated and he is our “ELF ON THE SHELF”.  He keeps watch over the girls each and everyday and then reports back to Santa at night while they are sleeping.  Each morning he returns to a new “spot” in the house and the girls have to find where he has hidden.  They have made this a game and it’s freaking adorable!   They talk to Snowflake, they read him books, they tell him secrets and they use him as a “Threat”!  LOL– You will hear Avery tell Carly (MANY MANY TIMES A DAY) that Snowflake is watching her and that she better be NICE!  Somehow I think that no matter what happens and how naughty they may be, these 2 girls will have a VERY, VERY Special Christmas Day!

P.S… I added some pix in the November and December folder…. here’s a sneak preview… enjoy!…..
